My Soldier Boy (March 23, 2010)

Yechezkel at Har Herzl on Yom Hazikaron

I sent my boy off to the army today

My brave Soldier Boy

Proud, independent, honorable Yechezkel

A soldier in the Israeli army.

I sent my boy off to the army today

A young man no longer a boy

Serving and defending his country

His lifelong dream come true

I sent my boy off to the army today

Not an easy thing for a mother to do

I watched him as he boarded his bus

Wondering all the while,

When did he stop being a boy?

I sent my boy off to the army today

With as much love as a mother can give

Hugs and kisses, words of encouragement

and prayers for his safety and well being

I sent my boy off to the army today

To a base in Nitzanim

I sent my boy off to the army today

But as we bade farewell, I noticed

He was not a boy

But a Man.
